8th grade music
class recordings 2019-2020
Our final project in music class was to compose a graduation song or rap. The students all did an excellent job with this assignment! We hope you enjoy a few of our SAS class of 2020 graduation songwriting projects!
Listen to some of our Write your own Jingle Projects! All of the students completed this assignment remotely and some even used their instrumental skills to accompany their song!
Today we learned about 20th century composer John Cage, who believed everything, including silence, random sounds, sounds from nature and electronic sounds was music. We listened to his work, "The Wonderful Widow of Eighteen Springs", and discussed improvisation. The students were then given the task to improvise an original body percussion and simple vocal part using any text they would like. Check out two of our creations from today's class!
On the first day of music class our 8th graders learned about the musical style of Reggae. They sang this song together as a reminder that "every little thing's gonna be alright!" (originally recorded by Bob Marley and the Wailers)
